DIGITAL INDIA WEEK
(1 to 7 July 2015)
Digital India Week celebrated throughout the Cachar District apart from the govt departments(DC office, Railway, Post Office etc). Various programmme on eLiteracy, e-waste, Digital locker and Cyber Hygiene are conducted at school, colleges, institutions etc. On 2nd July Digital India Week Celebrated at DRDA Conference Hall organized by Shri W. Santi Singh, District Information Officer, NIC Cachar and Juber Ahamad eDPM Cachar, conducted workshop cum awareness on Digital India.
On 3rd Day it is celebrated at Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya School, Ramnagar Silchar organized by NILIET Silchar. The events started at around 11 AM with and introductory speech and power point presentation by Shri Shamik Gupta Bhaya Technical Officer, followed by the Hackathon Competition. It was followed by the skit competition on Information Technology related topics in which the participants were 8th, 9th and 10th standard students of the school. Finally a quiz competition was held for the students on IT and related topics. All the events were widely participated by the students of Classes VIII, IX and X of the school. This was followed by lunch for the students and staff of the school arranged by NIELIT.
The concluding session started at around 3 PM which was attended by Professor A. K. Sinha, Dean Academics, NIT Silchar as the Chief Guest, Shri W. Santi Singh, District Information Officer, NIC Cachar, Shri Santanu Borgohain, Scientist-C, NIELIT Guwahati Silchar Extension Centre and Shri Sashank Roy, Principal, Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya, Silchar on the dias. The programme was started with a chorus by students of the school. Shri Sashank Roy in his speech welcomed the guests to the event of Digital India Week at Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya. Shri S. Borgohain, Scientist-C spoke on the significance of Digital India Week, some of the thrust areas of the Department of Electronics and Information Technology namely Digital Literacy, ICT in Education, ESDM, Skill Development, Cyber Hygiene and Digital Locker. Shri W. Santi Singh, DIO, NIC spoke about the aim of DeitY to provide connectivity to the remotest of locations in the country, E Waste Management, Implementation of Digital Locker, etc. The Chief Guest Professor A. K. Sinha spoke about the importance of computer education for students and about India possessing two thirds of the global IT Workforce. He also emphasized the importance of mathematics for becoming a good programmer. Professor Sinha donted two PC’s to the School on behalf of NIT Silchar on the occasion of Digital India Week and also announced that NIT Silchar would be starting various initiatives in which students of Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya would be taken to NIT Silchar for training and orientation on various engineering disciplines. This was followed by the prize distribution ceremony for the various competitions staged on the occasion. Shri Shamik Gupta Bhaya, Technical Officer offered the vote of thanks.
On 4th July a workshop cum awareness programme was conducted at DRDA Hall, Silchar for CSC VLE of the Cachar District about the upcoming programmes and gave awareness of e-waste, digital locker and cyber hygiene.
On 6th e-District project e-District projects are started at District Head Quarter with the existing 5 nos. of service and additional services under ARTPS including Bakijai service in the District.
